Single vineyard of 100 year old Garnatxa Blanca vines from Terra Alta, Catalonia. This wine shows what Garnatxa Blanca has to offer: concentrated fruit, good acidity and a filmy aftertaste with subtle honey, stone fruit and herbs.
This is a single vineyard wine. The grapes come from the La Serra Blanca vineyard in Terra Alta, an area in the south of Catalonia. The sticks were planted in 1900 and are therefore more than 100 years old. They produce about 300 grams of grapes per vine, the average yield is 1000 kg per hectare. That is extremely little. After pressing, the juice is fermented in 2500 liter Austrian oak for 12 months. Bâtonnage takes place in the first two months to make the wine rounder in taste. In addition, the wine gains complexity through bâtonnage. Beautiful expression of garnacha blanca.
